So many people are still searching for the right answer to this question. I've followed this post up with a more recent one.

Like anything to do with social media, I think your use depends on what you want to get out of it. Do I like any of my own Facebook posts on my own profile? Hardly.

Do I sometimes go into a page for which I'm an admin as myself and like a post to help others find it? Yes. Sometimes.

As the platform changes, as my strategy for using the platform changes, so also my individual use.

What about you? What do you do, and how has your use changed over time?

Re: Should you like your own Facebook posts?

Dear Daniel, really, hellooouu….are you serious? Are you so insecure that you have to like your own stuff? It really doesn't matter how you slice it, it's just no good. Be a man, come on. Say what you have to say, and then you've said it, you don't have to sneak back and cook the numbers. If we don't like it, then we don't. Don't suggest or try to put words in our mouth, we the people, we know what we like and what we don't. Just like you. But liking your own stuff on Facebook, well, frankly, it's kind of weird. Maybe you should talk about it, you know, with a professional.

Re: My city’s in ruins

So very sad. It's simply a comment on a social networking site. Your arguments are pretty much pointless in this case. You say "We're supposed to like our work". As I've stated earlier (and SUPPOSING that a facebook status can be considered "work"), then posting it is enough to indicate that you like it. When you go to a restaurant, do you order the chicken, followed by having to justify to the waiter that you want the chicken because you like it? Do you go about explaining that you choose to wear the clothes that you wear because you like them? Tell people you own a car, TV, phone or laptop because you LIKE them? No. These are all implied, as is posting a status on facebook!

Re: Should you like your own Facebook posts?

If you like your own status on facebook, you are thick. Simple. You posted the bloody status BECAUSE you liked it, not IN SPITE OF LIKING IT. It's like a stand-up comedian getting on stage and telling jokes that he alone gets, before laughing at himself. Yes, you are looking for approval by liking your own status. You do not need to like it because it's bloody implied. Honestly, people are retarded

Re: On good mornings, optimism, Jedi mind tricks, and personal branding

It's something I've had to grow into, Judi.
